And I've updated my queer history blog.

I'm always fascinated about the peripheral stuff I have to look up for the blog. Today it was the Canadian Secret Service -- the dangerously paranoid, little-known spy organization that eventually got merged into CSIS.

Otherwise, it's been a very productive day. I finished my fifth draft of my novel, and now I'll be subjecting it to some heavy edits for a couple of weeks before it's ready to show anyone. I also fixed my computer's power source, and baked banana bread.

Thanks. That was really interesting.

And having been in the solitary cells at the old jail in Ottawa (and with the door open, mind you), I can say that keeping men in there even if it was to protect them from the other inmates was not a kindness. They aren't pleasant places.

I figured they wouldn't be, though the old jail were worse than the penitentiary (the penitentiaries were built to have a humane alternative to those places, which is why sentences to jails were always shorter than pen sentences).

OMFG!WALLACE!

...

*blushes*

Sorry, I'm a total Scott Pilgrim fanboy. And I'm jealous of the banana bread. And the novel awesomeness (assuming from your writing in other places...).

I'm very much a Scott Pilgrim fanboy, too. It's one of the only two series I have on reserve (the other being Evengelion).

I use it when I'm baking, which I'm trying to do more often.

And I hope the novel is good. I've done five versions in two years and a bit, most of them in the last six months. I've cleaned up some perpetual problems in character, pacing, tone, style, and structure that have haunted it since the beginning now, so maybe it'll be good.

*is now trying to figure out what your icon's from*

Actually, it isn't. It's from here. It's a trace-over of a rather famous photo by Mapplethorpe (or one of those ilk). I do admit to using it as a YAish icon. ;-)
