Anyone worried about the religious right in the US (or elsewhere) - or who's ever wondered where America's frequently evil foreign policy comes from - should read this old interview with Jeff Sharlet, the journalist who's done more than anyone to expose the activities of a Christian fundamentalist group known simply as The Family.

These are the same people who are responsible for the extreme anti-gay initiatives in Uganda right now.

It makes me wonder if Stephen Harper has connections to the family. Anyone who doesn't think Christianism hasn't deeply infiltrated Canada should read this article I put up here last year.

This is stuff everyone should know.

Stephen Harper eats babies and keeps a dragon in his shed!

Now a dragon in the shed would clearly be a redeeming feature.

As for eating babies, that would require getting close to them. This is the man who sets up a cheesy photo op to show himself off walking his son to school, followed a cold shaking of hands.

But, yeah, it's still important to bring this stuff. I know at least two Harperites occasionally read this LJ, both fiscal conservatives who can't be convinced that Harper's actually an evangelical extremist with an agenda.

And that's been Harper's strategy - a different message for evangelicals, for fiscal conservatives, and for disaffected Québécois, all the while hoping they don't talk to each other. This stuff has to be kept in the public eye.
