Happy belated solstice.

I hated missing solstice. Nothing remotely solstice-related out here. Victoria used to be a very pagan-friendly town, but now there's pretty much nothing. One of the Wiccan stores, Avalon, changed its name to Angels of Avalon and now sells New-Age Christian glurge.

As if there wasn't enough Christian glurge around this time of year. I'm so goddamn sick of baby Jesuses, and false Christian histories where Christmas pops into existence with the birth of Christ. Glaaa. And my tolerance for Christianity is at an all-time low this year, since I got to see all the ugly bigotry rise to the surface in the same-sex marriage debate, and watch all of the Catholic Church's dirty tactics used against us.

It is taking all my energy just to deal with the parents, and I'm already exhausted with visiting relatives. There's nothing much else to do here since the last of my friends have finally got away or completely disappeared. Bastian can't make it out because he doesn't want to leave his increasingly-blind father alone on the first Christmas since his brother (Bastian's father's brother) died.

Bastian reports that this is a better year than last year, because none of his friends have stolen from him in the last six months. But he's still too agoraphobic to leave the house.

What a shitty holiday season.
