Good day. It's been a great 24 hours, so I'm in a good mood.

Last night I went to a great New Year's get-together at the home of [livejournal.com profile] scottevil and husband. It was a quiet evening in a beautiful, candlelit place. The food and the conversation was fantastic.

And today, we had a pretty good game, though the lot of us were half asleep. Not as good as our pre-Yule game, but fun nonetheless.

And a heads up for my fellow gamers who read this journal: we're going in for a fairly big adventure next week, one that's been in the works for awhile now.

The party relocated, though not too far. Travelling on Pegasus-back (thanks to Kokuin's transformative spells), they crossed the mountains (stopping to rest in a valley where they fought a dark drow knight), and reached the halfling farming colony in the interior.

(The party needed Firefly, so I hope you don't mind, [livejournal.com profile] em_fish, but I played your character -- they needed dispel magic. Rowan didn't relocate with them, but it'd be fairly easy to have her in the area if you're back next week, [livejournal.com profile] foi_nefaste. Izomo also tagged along.)

The reason for the journey was that Mathar had heard that the drow were behind the gem thefts that had shook Faerlynn (without certain gems, of course, life cannot be restored to the dead). They touched down in the village, and had scarcely made the acquaintance of the village headmaster and the local priestess of Yondalla when Mathar got sidetracked on a sidequest.

A priest of Epollon (his god) he'd been tracking down had disappeared, heading for the local Khalomite monastery. The monastery was full of dead bodies and dusty religious items. They went into the cellar, and Galiah stole a relic from a reliquary. Then they reached a place where only Mathar, Kokuin, Firefly, and (with a little trick) Galiah could cross the barrier.

Beyond were the remains of the Priest of Epollon, who had cast a protective barrier with his last breath. Beyond was the treasury, and of vault sealed to all but good priestly magic. Inside was a ring.

No sooner had they removed the ring but several bodies came to unlife and attacked. The party wasn't seriously wounded, and came away with scratches. The creatures were Huecuva -- the spirits of failed, corrupted priests.

We ended with the party giving the priests a decent buriel. They'll probably be spending a couple days at the monastery doing that, actually.

So yeah -- grim adventure. But we hadn't had undead for awhile, and Matt R's character is supposed to be a specialist in hunting them down.
