I don't think I would have gotten through a degree - even an undergrad - in a purely academic discipline. I originally had a place to read English Lit at Cardiff University in the UK, and I ended up cancelling it - something for which I'm now eternally grateful. I think I'd have ended up feeling much the way you do, except that I'd probably have given up partway through.
