foi_nefaste had a lovely roleplaying get-together for her birthday on Friday. I played my first Shadowrun game, as an orcish hacker (which used to be called a decker). It's basically like being in a William Gibson novel invaded by orcs and elves and trolls.

Being a hacker is a lot of fun when you have a wireless network attached directly to your brain. It means that I can sound out and break into systems from a restaurant a mile away. Or a Starbucks -- and since it's Seattle in 2070, everything's a Starbucks, even the private apartments. That's why the Shadowrun-world is called a dystopia.

*ducks thrown objects from the two Starbucks fans I know to be on my friends-list*

In other news, I'm back at my old admin job as of Friday. And I revised 30 more pages of my novel yesterday. I expect to be done the big first revision today. After that, more research, more planning, more working out of specifics, and then I head into the second revision.

It's going much better than my first novel, and for the first time I feel I'm making real progress.
