Well, we've been in the new place almost a week now. It's marvellous. montrealais's mother came over last night for dinner, and we walked down to the St-Lawrence River, which is now only half a block away.

We're also half a block from a nice little commercial district with mostly independent little businesses instead of megacorps. They have almost every kind of business you could need within short walking distance.

We're a little farther from the metro, but it's not so bad.

I have a new bed -- a birthday gift from montrealais -- and I bought myself a real computer desk. Right now, I'm staining the old bare wood Ikea bookshelves I've had for years. I might finally have the storage space to hold all of my books.

And I keep running into people I know here. More in a week than I did in six years in St-Henri. St-Henri's streets are disturbingly empty, much of the time.

Somehow I managed to get to the halfway point in the editing, too.

Getting more storage space is good. Sadly, I never seem to be able to get enough...

The storage problems always seem to involve books somehow -- or books and old journals. I'm convinced that books, contrary to their solid appearance, are actually a gas that grows to fill all available space.

I agree. No matter how many bookshelves I have they're always all mysteriously full. Books have their own laws of physics, just like cats. ^_^

All my friends are conveniently located in Verdun now (well most of them anyways), makes things easier. ^_^ I'm glad you like the new place.

Storage space for books... yeah that's what I thought when I got my 4 brand new IKEA shelves but I'm already double staking again. I think I really do need a library... ^_^ Are you still enjoying Antique Bakery?

Good luck on the editing. I'm looking forward to our desk coming today and to finishing arranging my library/study so I can write comfortably again.
