These two only happened because I mis-read the question, and I've now re-written the wording to make sense.

As for the rest:

1. I tried drag once, back in January, 1996. I had a serious crush on a drag queen named Corey, and spent a couple of days with him in Ottawa. He was the one who put me in drag, though his best efforts were abysmal. I just didn't have the body for it, and after about an hour's work, I still looked like Cindy Brady. We went out to a club and danced for awhile, then I came home and took off the makup.
   
   
2. As for talking fast, people used to complain about it, so I try to slow down. Sometimes, though, even now, I forget.
   
   
3. I make a distinction between pessimism and cynicism. I'm usually the person who notices the flaw or problem in a plan first. I don't give up in despair and declare it all meaningless, but it does mean I plan always for the worst. That's probably why I'm good with money, even though I don't care too much about it. I think I come across as optimistic, because this is a deeply cynical culture, so even a standard pessimist looks like an optimist.
   
   
4. The hole in my ear has closed over, several years past. I discovered I'm allergic to something in earrings, and it kept giving me a rash and getting infected. I gave up on earrings altogether after that :/

6. My computer was custom built by a guy named Adam. He was a friend of montrealais's who built computers for fun, as a hobby. He built my computer for free (I only had to pay for the parts) because it gave him a chance to do something he loved on someone else's budget. He pieced it together from what he considered the best parts, and the most useful for my purposes.

Hey, I had the same problem with earrings! They always made me itch and burn. It really sucked. I think certain types of metals and plated things were what triggered it.

I let my piercings grow back partly because of that and partly because I'm incredibly lazy about my appearance. :P

And I see you edited some of the answers. It really freaked me out because I was sure it said something different on my survey, then I thought *I* had misread things, so then I got really worried that I checked off that I thought strippers were slutty for dancing.

Actually, if you check my friends list, junsui_sougen is epileptic. She has mostly absente seizures, although I'm told that while under the care of an especially fucknut doctor doing "seizure testing" in the hospital once she had a grand mal seizure. As soon as she could walk, talk, think and sign medical papers, she packed up and LEFT.

I don't have any piercings either -- not even my ears. Not, mind, that I have not tried; I've had my ears pierced three times that I can remember and possibly once when I was too young to have noticed. They always grow back. I figure the universe is trying to tell me something.

You're right that the quiz is ridiculously US-centric. For some reason we seem to have a higher concentration of teeny boppers who like to spend their time constructing LJ memes down here, and they can't really picture life elsewhere as being different.

I guess by absente/i> you mean what my doctor called petit mal? Where the higher brain functions just seem to shut down and the person goes vacant? Most of my seizures have been of that type. I've only had one grand mal, when I was 2 years old.

I'm more-or-less used to US-centric quizs. It's not a matter of being offended, just confused. Every time someone from outside the US does such a quiz, we have to figure out what to do with it.

What really worries me is how many of my Canadian friends checked the box "Prostitution should be legalized" without adding a comment. Maybe, like me, they were concerned about bawdy house laws, or they were re-interpreting it as "Prostitution should be legalized in the US" or "Prostitution should remain legal."

But given my fellow Canadians' track record for distinguishing between US law/history and our own, I worry a little. Simple prostitution is legal in Canada, so long as both partners are 18 or older, and it doesn't happen in the prostitute's home.

"Absente" is what she calls them; I've always assumed it was a kind of petit mal seizure, from the way she uses the term. She just kind of shuts off for 15-30 seconds and then tunes back in. I've never caught her having one; she is very good at covering for them. IIRC she was diagnosed at maybe 5 or 6, but I don't know how long she'd had seizures before that. Her family makes my family look downright pleasant, so God only knows how long it took them to visit a doctor.

From what I recall, she's also got ADD, migraines, mild dyslexia and discalculia, fibromyalgia, and an IQ of ~140 (Stanford-Binet scale, where standard deviation is 15-16). Junsui has quite possibly the most non-standard functional neurological wiring I have ever seen on a walking, talking human being. It's like someone took her brain and fastened the + and - leads together on one pole, and shorted ground straight to 110VAC.

She is also, with one colored contact in and her glasses off, a dead ringer for Yuna from FFX. We have pictures from last Halloween. I know some of the most interesting people. ^_^
