Hello. Sorry for the long silences -- I've been mostly internet-hibernating, lately. I've been very gradually moving through my f-list, but I've mostly only been checking up on a few of you who I know have been having a hard time lately. Mostly I'm in internet-detox mode. Too much time spent here doesn't seem to be healthy for me, and puts me in an unpleaant state of mind.

I'm getting a lot of hours in at work. I've been writing -- one month after my rewrite began I hit 57,000 words. I've been reading Irving Layton in little bits -- I'm mostly past his really bad and Social Darwinist poems and into the rich nature poems he was writing towards the end of his life.

Other than that, I've been dabbling in Final Fantasy XII. Not very far into it, but it's a brilliant game, in spite of its tendency to rip off Star Wars. Still, it generally does it much better than George Lucas ever did.

Replacing Han Solo with a gentleman pirate was an inspired choice, though replacing Chewbacca with the ultimate Playboy bunny was not. Chewbacca should not be replaced by anything wearing a steel bustier.

No worries. I still get to see yo uat anime nights so it's ok. ^_^

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed how much it looked like Star Warsa nd how similar parts of the story are. And Balthier is way better than Han Solo. But now I'm picturing Chewy in a steel bustier and that is definately worse than the bunny. ;)

That mental image was exactly what turned me against Fran, although it is true she does develop as a character.

I love that icon, by the way ^_^

Your rewrite seems to have taken on a life of its own. That's great, and well done so far!

A mini update just for you: my biggest worry right now is that I have a rogue ringlet sticking straight up out of the top of my head and I can't persuade it to join its friends. Hat day. And I did anarchic karaoke last night in the smelly basement of a Japanese restaurant.

I'm intrigued by your bunny in a bustier. Probably not intrigued enough to start dabbling myself though...

I apologize profusely for missing that.

It's actually kind of a shame. That outfit of hers makes her hard to take seriously as a character, though she gets some of the most interesting character development in that game.

Fortunately, Fran does become a more interesting secondary character as the game progresses. ^_^ I agree completely with the Star Wars thing (it's hard not to.)

She does develop interestingly, but unfortunately that ridiculous outfit of hers makes her had to take seriously. I mean, is she morose because she's a self-exile from her people and the woods to which their so profoundly linked, and now wonders if she's made a bad decision -- or because she has a steel g-string digging into her private parts?
