Ten Things
Feb. 25th, 2005 06:23 pmI've written almost 50 pages this week. My tenth version of the novel is more than a 100 pages long now, and I figure I'm almost halfway through. Found out I didn't win the CBC literary award, but it's a good short story and I'll just find another place for it.
Ten Things I've Done That You Probably Haven't
Oh, and speaking of writing, any Harry Potter fans here (and I know that's about half my friends list) and environmentalists will want to sign Greenpeace's petition to have the next Harry Potter book, American version, put on recycled, ancient-forest-friendly paper.
The Canadian version already does this, and the British publisher just announced they would as well. I signed, but they really need is American signatures, since that's their target readership.
Ten Things I've Done That You Probably Haven't
- Co-founded a city's only organization for queer youth
- Conducted surveys on recycling in -30 degree Celsius weather
- Moved across the country in the middle of winter to a place where I had no friends, no job, no apartment, and no plans, simply because I had a vision where I went there.
- Left home for the last time on 24 hours notice, with only $20 in my pocket
- Written 9.5 complete versions of a novel.
- Been to a Yaoi-conference to attend panels on homoerotic Japanese animation.
- Got into grad school on the strength of my analysis of queer subtext in Interview with a Vampire
- Hung out of a moving van
- Lived with a rock star (well a local rock star)
- Had an in-depth discussion about my father with Svend Robinson.
