From bill bisset's "i was on beech avenue in vancouver":

wher th canada gees gathr with a boom
mike intrviewing th canada gees abt
theyr life styles if yu show feer they
hiss n honk you away

i was asking them how they choos to
mate for life n what happns whn n if
tranguls develop dew they have divors
n trial separayshuns
And there you have it folks -- bill bisset, first Canadian poet to write entirely in lolcat. That poem dates to 1974.

Actually, his stuff is really emo, and is largely compromised of hardcore gay sex scenes, so he's also been a LiveJournaler since before Frank was born.

Hahah, I came over here from metaquotes and I simply have to friend you. Feel free to ignore me or peruse my limited backlog of posting or ask me question to make sure I'm not crazy, but the lit and the poetry and the linguistic crazy and the list of links in your sidebar and the gaming.... yes. I felt the need.

I certainly don't mind, though I might not add you just because I'm having trouble keeping up with my friends list in person.

I do love the icon, though ^_^

But I always assumed a pony would be the sort of thing one crocheted...?

Actually it (http://pics.livejournal.com/knitmeapony/pic/00032qf3/) is! (http://pics.livejournal.com/knitmeapony/pic/00031k49/) But the nickname comes from an old RPG game and has very little basis in reality, hehe.

He was truly ahead of his time.

It really only took the internet to make Canadian culture seem normal ^_^

Speaking of gay sex, have you seen Torchwood? You should see Torchwood. They are not even pretending anymore. I wasn't sure they could top the episode they did last season that was entirely about a telepathic space lesbian infiltrating their "secret" organization by bonking their computer tech, but I think they can.

I was in quite a mood a couple of nights ago, but John Barrowman and James Marsters snogging on screen for no real reason made things somewhat better. ^_^

Wait, James Marsters? He's snogging James Marsters? DAMMIT! I keep trying to give up on that show! But it keeps trying to tempt me back!

Yes. Well, it's Jack, so he's snogging basically anyone who ever sort of breathes anything that might sound like consent, but specifically it is, in fact, James Marsters in the premiere of season two. It turns out that Marsters' hair is actually a kind of a sandy brown when he is not busy being Spike -- I think I like it. I'm still trying to work out exactly how he picked up the urban London accent, seeing as he's actually from California somewhere.

Also, Jack confesses to an odd little fetish-quirk that has Ianto caught between amused and disturbed. Just give up and go watch. ^_^

I don't own a TV so I haven't followed any TV series in many years. My roommate and I have been very slowly going through the DS9 episodes I never had a chance to finish, and I go once a week to watch anime with friends, but that's it.

...who owns a TV? The internet provides! Although if you wait long enough, I think they are going to be airing Torchwood in Canada.

If you do happen to get through DS9, let me know. I have all of Torchwood to date. Not that I'm addicted or anything. No siree. *whistles innocently*

You really need to cool it with the metaquotesworthy stuff. You're making us look bad.

It's hard not to, what with the world being so absurd and all.

Hey now. Someone else on the SDMB quoting felis quoted somewhere else was how I found you lot. If not for that, I would still be updating my LJ once in a blue moon, grumbling, "goshdarned EMO KIDS why in my day you had to get REAL PIERCINGS to earn the RIGHT to whine like that and NOBODY wore their SISTER'S PANTS to CONCERTS and we had to CHECK OUR SPELLING with a real DICTIONARY that you could DROP on your FOOT and YOU WHIPPERSNAPPERS GET OFF MY LAWN!"

Or, you know. Something. ^_^
