Sunday was an odd day. I turned on my computer, and smoke started pouring out the back, from the area of the power source. I unplugged it an it stopped. This is the first computer I ever had catch fire on me.

Fortunately, I bought my first laptop the week before, and the novel was backed up on to it. Still, though, one of the benefits of having two computers was the sense of safety in knowing I had a backup in case of an emergency.

I finished Anansi Boys -- I'll have a review of it another week. Yesterday, I tried to teach myself how to use the sewing machine, and so far that's been disastrous.

Without access to video games, I'm getting a lot more done. But it's making me want to play that medieval Knighthood game even more. Problem is, in order to get started on it in under a year, you need to invite people in, and I'm a bit shy about asking people to load on new applications, because there are so goddamn many of those things and it seems rude to just send an invite out of the blue without asking first.

Anybody here on Facebook willing to be my vassal?

I can't decide whether to pun on "flaming" or "on fire."

Hotness!

Either works ^_^

But I think it's this heat. You can evaporate an egg on the sidewalk in this weather.

Fortunately I've never had a computer catch fire. Good thing you had that laptop. ^_^

If you can't figure out the sewing machine, let me know. I'm not a great seamstress like my mother and it has been awhile but I have been able to get those contraptions to work in the past. ^_^ (suddenly this sounds like the blind leading the blind)

I am willing to be your vassal. But as I spend very little time on facebook I'll probably be a lazy one. ^_^

A very good thing.

And I'll take you up one day on that offer. I can't get three stiches in without getting everything tied up in knots. I must have it threaded wrong.

Passive is fine -- you're in the game as long as the application is registered. Even before you sign up, if you've been invited, you're in the game for a week before it gives up on you. You're less powerful, though -- you're showing up as Handmaiden Jennifer, to be upgraded to Knight Jennifer if you accept.

Sewing machines are evil. They loathe me. I wish they loved me though. I am a crafty person. I want to sew my own princess dresses and smocks for my babies and make wristlet purses to sell on Etsy. Why don't they love me? Why, Og, why?

*suspects that this is more of your low self-esteem, and wonders if you've stitched the stuff of universes and stories from sewing machines*
