Dec. 17th, 2006 07:43 amSo I'm at the airport waiting for my flight. Whenever I'm in an airport, I think about what Mark Kingwell said about airports being bland non-places, interchangeable the world over.
Looking forward to seeing
jc2004,
snowdaemon, and
node357, as son s I'm out of th non-place.
Its been a chaotic week. It was madness at work -- it's never been so busy. Then on Tuesday, we had the company dinner in one legendarily-bland, upscale restaurants that charge exorbitant amounts for tiny portions in the middle of the plate. Probably the best part of that evening was when my two favourite co-workers (both in their late 30s) decided to have a thumb war and a slapsy fight across from the new guy in charge of North America for the new owners.
The hightlight of the week was certainly
rougemacabre's Yule party. We played Guitar Hero (I can't seem to get more than 69% of the notes eveb for a song I know and like). I kicked ass at Star Wars Trivial Pursuit, which is probably not the kind of thing I should be admitting in public.
And thank you everyone again for the gifts ^_^
My reading time is divided right now between Noam Chomsky's Cartesian Linguistics and manga. Day of Revolution was fantastic. I'm now reading the brilliant Canadian, manga-style comic Scott Pilgrim, my Yule gift from
maidenofirisa. And now I'm disappointed that none of my American friends informed me that there are subspace highways all over the world that "they don't talk about in Canadian schools" ;)
Looking forward to seeing
