Nov. 22nd, 2009 07:16 pmSo we had a quiet, little party today. We played Gloom and talked, to celebrate the completion of my novel.
For the record, I'm already sixteen pages into another novel, first draft. It's going to be a lot funnier. I'm having a lot of fun writing it.

Date: 2009-11-24 09:35 am (UTC)The rules say it's optional to create and continue a character's story as you play modifier cards on them. As a house rule, we make it required, so that each character has an ongoing story. The results are usually hilarious, and really make the game.
(For instance, in the first game I played, the owner of their character played "Mauled by a Manatee" and told us how a manatee launched itself out of the water at a seaside park and landed on him. An opponent played "Fell in Love," so the manatee and the character got married and lived happily ever after, after their embarrassing first meeting.)

I find it hard to write funny. I can be funny by accident by funny by premeditation is a lot of work and often falls flat. For me anyways.
