A little book store specializing in drama is closing its doors. It's called Stage, and it's where I went to pick up any drama texts I was after.

I bought Unidentified Human Remains and the True Nature of Love by Brad Fraser there, because once Stage is gone, there'll be nowhere in town that carries it. Who else is going to sell a no-hold-barred stage script by a gay Canadian? It's not like it's going to be Oprah-Winfrey-approved anytime soon.

I also grabbed a few other things. A friend of mine borrowed Sarah by JT LeRoy, and I doubt I'll ever see it again, so I picked up a second copy. I had to order my last copy of that book through L'Androgyne -- another great little bookstore that closed down.

(I went to L'Androgyne the second day I got to Montreal. Most of what I bought there were gifts for friends, so I don't have a lot on my shelves from it -- just my Queer as Folk DVD.

When I visited, I used to say to myself, "I wish I worked here -- I'd do anything to work here." Years after it left St. Laurent Street, by a series of odd coincidences, I wound up working in the Subway Restaurant that replaced it, preparing meats and vegetables in the former "used book" section -- how's that for weird?)
