May. 30th, 2005 10:39 pmIt's been a good year for my various fandoms. I got the Evangelion #9 manga this year after about a five-year wait. The Gravitation manga rounds off this year as well, and of course the second-to-last entry in J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter epic comes out next month. I've been told that the Advent Children movie will be in Europe by December.
But no one told me to expect another installment of my oldest fandom: the philosophical works of John Ralston Saul. I found it out on the radio this morning that the world's most brilliant thinker just came out with his latest book, The End of Globalization, and the Reinvention of the World.
I've already begun devouring it. His every sentence opens up whole new ways of looking at the world, politics, and history. His arguments shred the fabric of received wisdom, and finally make some sense of the world without oversimplifying it. Ingenious, complex ideas, woven into words of plain English.
*squees, has fanboy moment complete with cat-ears and tail*
ETA: It's official: Yelloknife, Northwest Territories, has just cancelled Heterosexual Pride Day.
Which is good, because that would be a very boring parade.

Date: 2005-05-30 08:31 pm (UTC)Advent Children will be out in North America in September for the record.
As to Heterosexual Pride Day... *sigh* Those poor straight people, always being left out. How do we stand it I wonder? It's like how all those crazy feminists are trying to take men's jobs away. It's hard being a straight white man these days.
And it would be a pretty boring parade wouldn't it?
