Jun. 13th, 2005 01:36 pmWow. In the last 24 hours, a pagan lj-community I'm on (
glbt_pagan) just sort of exploded. Dozens of entries in the last 48 hours, almost all of them introductions. It's a staggeringly diverse group of people -- a good thing, of course :)
Not much to say. I've written a good seven pages on my novel in three days, and I'm in to the second section of my 11th version. I'm a week ahead in my comics-course reading, and I've already read one of the books for my final essay (due two weeks today).
That book would be Reinventing Comics -- generally a good read, but Scott McCloud can be a bit of a techno-utopian at times. I don't think the web is going to replace print cartoons any time soon. The tactile experience of the page is too pleasurable. And like all futurists, the future was too lateral for him to predict -- writing only five years ago, he failed to see that one of the byproducts of the web would be a massive explosion in the sale of manga (in print form) over here.
Still, there isn't a person alive who knows more about the history and artistry of the comic strip, and it's highly recommended.
