Sep. 2nd, 2005 05:06 pmI have been up since 4 am. I was so busy, I didn't eat until 4 pm. And I didn't write until 2:30 pm, which I guess shows my priorities.
I probably would've had less to do if I didn't take a break between work and cleaning last night, but I crashed, and read Yami no Matsuei volume 7.
I'm really liking the manga -- although I find I usually like manga better than anime. I like where the story is going. It fills in a lot of gaps in the anime.
And you're right
jenjoou, it could be described as "Everyone chases Tsuzuki." Not really a Tsuzuki/Tatsumi fan, myself, though -- I like the energy between Hisoka and Tsuzuki better.
Now I'm wondering if
seal7 is a Tsuzuki/Muraki fan, knowing how he like his bishounen blond and evil :)
Now I have two birthday parties this weekend, which I'm looking forward to, followed by a complete crash on Monday, I'm sure :)

Date: 2005-09-03 12:03 pm (UTC)The sideshow of this story is the homoerotic tension among the almost-entirely male cast. We're not talking love triangles -- more like love dodecahedrons. Most of it is centred on Tsuzuki, a beautiful, purple-eyed, sweet, sensitive young man who commands the services of 12 powerful, ancient Chinese spirits.
He gets partnered up with a delicate boy with who died at 16. Probably because he feels other people's emotions (and can't shut them out), he has a very unpleasant personality, and tries to keep anyone from getting to close to him.
The two of them -- when they aren't being hunted down by demons -- spend most of their time pursuing Dr. Muraki, a terrifyingly powerful doctor who blends medical science and dark magic in a series of unethical experiments which play with the boundary of life and death. And he's obsessed with Tsuzuki, sexually and otherwise.
Tsuzuki's superior, the secretary of the department Tatsumi, is also in love with him. And one of the major activities for for the fans of this and other stories of its kind is guessing who'll wind up with whom -- though unlike Harry Potter shipping, it's pretty much likely that *only* the slash ships will sail in the end.
On top of it all, it's incredibly well drawn, and with a rather good story considering the pulpy mix of genres.
That's probably a lot more than you wanted to know :)

Date: 2005-09-02 11:38 pm (UTC)Muraki is one of the few anime villains I could never find just a SHRED of sympathy for. I really f*ing hate that guy. I do NOT get the fangirling over him, nor do I get the people who like to ship him with Tsuzuki. NO. NO NO NO AND NO!!!! Not even being blonde and evil can rescue him there. He's just such a nutjob with such distorted logic as a motive for what he's doing, it's just UGH. Way beyond any insanity I could like or even understand at least.
>_<
I also don't know how anyone who likes Hisoka could like Muraki as well. And I, for one, like Hisoka bunches.
Yeah, that's that. Now you know =P
Really, don't forget to eat >_> it's kinda important.

Date: 2005-09-03 12:06 pm (UTC)Sorry, I didn't mean to offend.
I feel the same way about both Hisoka and Muraki. I was going to create a Hisoka icon, before Matt's computer broke down -- but I wasn't sure what I'd use it for. The only thing I'm really missing an icon for is "pissed off" -- I generally use Shuichi's "Nani" sign for that.
