It's coming up, and here's something everyone with an internet connection can do to help fight AIDS that doesn't cost any time or money.
Here is a program that transforms your computer into a device for modelling AIDS vaccines. Whenever you aren't using your computer, in place of a screen saver, the computer becomes linked up to the thousands of other computers modelling vaccines. It just looks and behaves like a screensaver to the user, however -- entirely unobtrusive.
If enough people join up, we could cut years or even decades off the search for a vaccine.
Writing
I hit 200 pages this morning. The novel is currently in Gaiman-esque dark fantasy mode. It needs a lot of fleshing out -- fantasy is the easiest genre to write, and the hardest to write well -- but I like what I have so far.

"In a press conference Tuesday, Mr. Harper said if Parliament supported the move in a free vote, he would endeavour to reinstate the traditional definition of marriage as prime minister."I'm actually kind of happy he's saying this. Half his voters are fiscal conservatives who are uncomfortable with his social conservatism. He;s making it harder and harder for them to ignore it and defend him.
