Okay, I'm calmer, now -- almost hyperventilating for awhile. Political addict media-induced burnout. I've been reading various projections, and looking over old polls, as well as some of the more recent polls beyond the Ekos, and I'm back to thinking the Conservatives won't form a majority government.
They always poll high -- in 1993, the Tories were predicted to form a majority or minority, and they were wiped out and reduced to two seats. In two of the last three elections, the smart money seemed to be on the Alliance/Non-Progessive Conservatives as well.
They can't realistically take Quebec, and they can't take the Atlantics, and they can't take the Territories -- and they can't form a majority government with less than half the country, no matter how strong their support is in the other half.
I really lament that the region of my birth and childhood -- the West -- has become such a tremendous burden to the rest of the country in the form of the Conservatives. Alberta is to be expected, but I don't know what's happened to BC and Saskatchewan. Outside of the major urban centres, it's a giant blue tide.
Is this all just Western Alienation, or is fundamentalist Christianity spreading...?

Date: 2006-01-11 03:22 pm (UTC)I can give you every bit of information you need to vote -- right down to maps to the polling station (it's usually only a five minute walk, in the neighbourhood). If you got a brown-and-white card in the mail with your name on it, it will be easier. If not, you're going to make a phone call.
The one thing I'll need from you to give you all this info is your postal code. Your email address at your blog still works...?
Naturally, I'd prefer you vote NDP, but I'd respect any vote but Conservative. I think there are about three parties in the area whose beliefs match yours. I can fill you in on the candidates -- their backgrounds and beliefs -- by email.
Looking forward to the new journal. LiveJournal was made for "whining and game junk" ^_^
