Life

This began as a very bad day -- nightmare trying to get to work, someone seems to have issued a final "fuck you" to the world by throwing themselves in front of a subway car.

This happens surprisingly often in this city. I can't believe I'm jaded to it already. :/

After a gruelling session of placement exams, I came home and revised another 50 pages -- not counting the pages I shaved off. Yeah, the second revision is about one-quarter done, and the novel is down from about 400 pages to 375.

Election

In the "You can't make this shit up" category, Rondo Thomas, Conservative in the Ajax-Pickering Riding, had this to say about same-sex marriage, to a crowd of supporters:

"There is going to be a clash of morality views between those who believe in righteousness and those who believe in immorality and when we collide there is going to be conflict. It doesn't matter what the media says, it doesn't matter what the government says — the facts don't count. We are going to win this conflict."
Someone on [livejournal.com profile] harper_sucks suggested that "The Facts Don't Count" should be the new Tory campaign slogan.

(By the way, do any of my newer non-Canadian friends want me to filter/lj-cut election stuff. I asked last election, and people told me not to bother. But now I have a larger friends list, and thought I'd ask again...)

I love hearing your perspective...and if I was already there I would be marching right beside you.

I honestly think at the worst we will have a minority conservative government that will fall by the end of the year.

At the best we will have a minority liberal government that will fall by the end of the year.

The tories were up in the polls last time too at this point in the game. Keep the faith :-)

I know. I'm trying not to lose faith. I've seen some really good analyses that say that the Tories still can't win majority -- their support is distributed wrong.

It happens ridiculously often. The metro drivers have counseling set up specifically for these situations.

The facts don't count... hmm makes me love them all the more.

Good luck on your essay. Your progress amazes me. ^_^

Thank you. It actually frightens me.

Just yesterday, I was thinking, "What if I finish it before the election? I've long promised Matt the first read, and he'll probably be on the verge of collapse for a whole month after the 23rd -- this is the most gruelling election marathon ever.

That's good to know. I'm always worried I'm boring people with my ultra-partisan politicking ^_^
