• And as if to prove that it is not without a sense of humour, Elections Canada has (under "Frequently Asked Questions," subsection "Registration and Voting") a response to the question "Am I allowed to eat a ballot?".
  
  The answer is it is highly illegal to eat a ballot, and punishable (according to the table of offences) by either a $5000 fine, or up to five years imprisonment, or both. Presumably, "both" is for worst offenders -- maybe people who put ketchup on it first.
